Decorative Flowers Series #1

Painting by Niya Christine. Copyright

#75/365 Paintings

A new lil’ series coming your way. Think romantic, decorative, faux finish style and for me some challenging taming of color, wild and crazy. Whew, long sentence there. Learning some new techniques in my mixed media class. I doubt I’ll be able to tame the color palette, but a more folksie style for sure. Simple subject matter, complex technique. In screenwriters terms… simple plot, complex characters. This might be a short series. Not sure yet. Enjoy!

This is so beautiful. I hope you do at least three, so that they can hang together on someone’s wall as one panel of three. Syndication? I think so…Niya can also do this too! Thank you for your daily paintings!

Your flower looks a bit like a butterfly 🙂
I like it. Soft colour pallette, striking a balance with the textured background.

What Leah said. I guess bursting out of a bud and breaking out of a cocoon aren’t so different, although I hadn’t thought about the similarity until I looked at this one.

This is really sublime. The material from that mixed media class is pure magic in your hands. Or maybe it’s just that your hands are magic.

Lovely, you are off to a good start – I like the mix of loose paint that then comes back in with some nice detail…
