When I was in Santa Fe this past summer, I went to Ten Thousand Waves. Yes, I got a massage and enjoyed every second of it. But it was the Koi pond that streamed through the building that pulled me in and didn’t let me go for a long time. They floated up and touched my hands. They regarded me with their large pre-historic eyes. Their orange spots turned green and then blue again as they grazed on the rocks. Submerged, I floated with their motions and repetitive curiosities—a brain massage to the fullest extent.
