365 Story Paintings Deluxe Hardcover Book: LIVE on Kickstarter

The Deluxe Hardcover Book Funding Campaign

Kickstarter campaign to get the book into people’s homes and hands.

…..HELLO…..Exciting News!

Yesterday, I launched a Kickstarter campaign in production the past 3 weeks to raise funds for the deluxe hardcover book of the 365 paintings. This book was in the proposal cycle for a traditional publisher, however that cycle is long one and this book has momentum.

WHY KICKSTARTER?

The book was envisioned from the onset of painting daily in January 2013: 12 months, 12 different themes with strong narrative drive to make for an entertaining visual narrative. But when subscribers, followers and customers began coming to me asking for help… really craving to carve out creative productivity in their very busy lives—when they wanted to know my secrets, the structure and how I dealt with the challenges and organizational battles—that’s when the book of painting stories took on a life of it’s own and became a resource for life design.

People are craving a bit of reflection and self expression in their days. I realized I was their lab-rat and this fascinated me, so I began to pay more attention and take extensive notes.

Now I have a book in progress and I need funding to make it happen. It’s a lovely book. A deluxe edition coffee table art book, over 200 pages. A memoir and structure for readers who are making something special in their life, even if only to change up some habits to be a better friend or parent. The structures and principles I discovered and developed work for anything you want to do. Especially if it’s something that really matters to you that you never seem able to get to on a daily basis.

So please spread the word. Let’s get this book funded together. The rewards are big and fun. Check it out on Kickstarter. Whether you decide to pledge your support or not,  I do hope you will pass it onto people in your life you feel just might be. Networking makes this all pretty special. Thank you!!!  Creatively yours, Niya.

Those Wild Air Balloons

#90/365 Paintings

Final painting for the month of March. I had so much fun with this theme. It started by thinking about kite flying near the Golden Gate bridge some years back in March. And then the flowers started blooming in my front yard. Lavender and a few wild flowers. Thus, March became all about flowers and fabric (kites, hot air balloons, billowy dresses). Fun, fun, fun!

Happy Easter!

A little of this, a little of that…

And this is what it might look like from inside the forest of flowers. I sort of want to tickle the tummy of the elephant on the right.

Project notes: These are my first experiences with collage. This past week has been full of experimentation (in the spirit of spring). I love it.

It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.

Decorative Flowers #2 | Sunflower

#76/365 Paintings

Amongst my favorite flowers are poppies, gladiolas, lilac, gardenia, star lilies (the ones that smell good) But at the very tip top of my list is the sunflower. It is so tall and powerful—bold and beautiful. And gosh so productive. So much going on right at the center. In constant baby making mode; seeds, seeds, seeds. My rabbit has a dose of sun butter everyday to keep his aging skin moisturized. Such the prima donna. He loves it though. So today’s painting is to say “Hey sunflower, thank you! And, I love you. And so does my rabbit, Dakota.”

Baa… Ba… Ba… BOOTS!

#56/365 Paintings

This post is dedicated to a subscriber and friend, Janine Harris (Neen). She hit the daily painting Jukebox with the request of wild, stomping boots. I realized there was no getting around this one. Boots are all about character! Great request Neen!

I’ve always been more of a boot girl than high healed shoes. In fact, I’m super keen in finding somewhat heeled shoes with boot rubber soles that bounce when you walk. Boots after all, have that “I’m ready for anything life has to throw at me today.” I’ll admit the whole boot thing went too far when I became mildly addicted to a kick boxing class in college. But other than that… lumber jack boots don’t look bad with printed dresses on a first date. For me, not a bad test of character in my date. And if you just need to walk all day. Hiking boots. Why not? They come in so many colors these days. What about a big talk with mom? Definitely cowgirl boots, or high boots to cover the fact that you forgot to shave. And mom’s have a way of seeing through phones. And, Uggs are fabulous for what Janine does a lot – trek through the snow. They are also great for a fancy meeting in Santa Fe New Mexico when you need warm feet to think. I learning this first hand. But on those crazy work days with more deadlines than brain cells? Lumber jack boots all the way. Gravity is the silver bullet on days like this.

Thanks Neen! Now go get on your super mom boots today and do what you do everyday… Be Fantastic and Awesome!
