Tea Towel with Birdies (Oh My!)
I’m not a tea towel type of gal. In fact, I had to look it up. “What is a tea towel?” This is what I love about this project… learning details and facts often leads to learning about life nuances I didn’t know before.
A tea towel, simply put, is a linen towel that is put on a tea tray for tea things. Linen because there is little risk of scratching silverware and it’s a clean textile for food covering at teatime. Goodness, I am such a hick in comparison. I’m just your average, run of the mill suburban farmer—(rabbits as pets). I use just about any kind of hand towel in reach. I do have linen tea towels I thought were dish rags. Rabbits toss them in the air, I clean their pens with them. I think the British would be appalled. Tea towels are spotlessly clean because they are an intermediary of food activities. Many are gorgeously embroidered as well. The little pudgy bird on the left hand side of this tea towel is sleeping. She has no interest in cleaning up bunny poop. She is a tea towel type of bird all the way.
… a new respect for tea activities is dawning.
